John McKelvey was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland on January 20, 1826. He came to America and settled at Old Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania in 1840. Jane Logan was born on February 2, 1832 near Belfast, Northern Ireland. She came to America and also settled in Old Pennsylvania. John and Jane met in Pennsylvanian and were united in marriage in 1857. They moved to Ohio in Holmes County and then settled in the town of Killbuck in 1861. They resided their for 50 years up to their deaths. To their union was born four sons and three daughters. They are in order of birth; Robert L. McKelvey, David McKelvey, William McKelvey, Mary McKelvey, Anna Nancy McKelvey, Alexander McKelvey, and Lilly McKelvey. Robert L. McKelvey is the next descendant in my family tree. He was born on May 10, 1858. He died on April 4, 1921. He married Sarah Loretta Neville; born on June 20, 1863 and died on January 20, 1948. Both are buried in the Killbuck Cemetery in Killbuck, Ohio. Their children in order of birth are: Hamby Earl McKelvey, Celia McKelvey, George Newton McKelvey, Elsworth McKelvey, Charles McKelvey, Cambi Pearl McKelvey, and Bessie McKelvey. Newton George McKelvey is the next descendant in my family tree. He was born in Killbuck, Oh on November 28, 1889. He married Blanche Harriet Jones of Spring Mountain, Oh. Their residences were Orrville, Killbuck, Millersburg, Massillon, Ohio, and after retirement moved to Dade City, Florida. Blanche Harriet Jones was born March 12, 1889 in Continental, Ohio, Putnam County. They had 3 children. In order of birth, are: Paul Newton McKelvey, Margaret Louise McKelvey, and Robert Dean McKelvey. (My father) So Robert D. McKelvey (Sr.) is the next descendant in my family tree. He was born in Killbuck, Ohio on November 21, 1924. He married Dorothy Marie Lorson on July 3, 1947. She was born in Orrville, Ohio on February 9, 1925. Their children in order of birth are: Marsha Lou Mckelvey, Linda Kay McKelvey, Carolyn Sue McKelvey, Robert Dean McKelvey, Jr., and Michael Lee McKelvey. Thus is my heritage in the McKelvey Line. My brother is the next descendant in this tree. He married Donna Elizabeth Neuner on April 16, 1972. Their children are in order of birth are: Lorraine Marie McKelvey, and Steven Brant McKelvey. I, Robert D. McKelvey, Jr. am still single, as of June 15, 2002! Why? you might ask? Hmm? I just never found anyone, who could put up with my idiosyncrasies! Ha Ha! |
