It pays to answer all emails. An inquiry and follow-up brought photos of this example of a 1953 G. Fox & Company Semi. I believe the term "rare" is over used as it is a very popular adverb in auction listing for Tonka trucks these days. That said, in regards to this semi, I don't believe it is a stretch to apply "very rare" to this near excellent, original, unretouched G. Fox semi featured below.
Tonka collector and website contributor Richard Gresh has done considerable research and states; "The 1953 cab over G. Fox semi was only given to G. Fox drivers and some other employees at the department store in Hartford, CT. It was not sold to the public. The cab over semi is rarer than the metro van."
Value: A clean, original, unretouched 1953 G. Fox semi in good plus condition, paint missing on most edges of the cab and trailer, decals in very good condition, no box, sold on eBay for $1200 USD in late July 2008.
