Value: A Frederick & Nelson semi in original, unretouched very good condition, well worn paint on the fifth wheel and saddle tanks, otherwise minimal paint scrapes on the cab and trailer, decals very good, missing one rear door handle, sold on eBay for $3270 USD late April 2008.

| Christmas 1954 or 1955. Wide eyed and with all the excitement a 3 year old could muster, Rob blissfully opened a present from his Aunt. Wrapping paper and bows tossed aside, a brand new truck was soon being driven by its new owner. Frederick & Nelson was a small department store chain located in Washington state. The chain was purchased by and operated as a division of Marshall Field & Company in 1929. The deep green color and the shield on the trailer are vintage Marshall Field & Company. Compare this semi to the Marshall Field & Company semi also featured on this website. This truck is not referenced in Desalle's "Collectors Guide to Tonka 1947-1963" or McElwee's "Collectors Guide #3 Tonka Toys 1947-1961". I believe this to be a very rare private label truck. |
