SB 709 allows an infant 30 days or less old to be abandoned. This is worse than the 72 hours old infant in HB 1122.

It also says that info may be requested but it won't be demanded.

I can tell you that I am sure one of these bills will most likely pass this session. HB 1948 hasn't been pulled out of Rules yet and may not be. But that leaves one of these two bills to pass.

Titles are stricken when there are legislators who want to keep a bill alive, but aren't completely happy with the language. If SB 709 survives the House committee and the House floor, it will go to a conference committee to work out the final language, before it receives a final Senate vote.

I guess this helps us some. The legislators aren't too happy with some of the language in this bill. We just don't know what language they are talking about!

HB 1122 will be heard in the Human Resources Committee. This week and next week (it meets Thursday mornings) will be spent getting the Senate bills out of the committee. Then they will start hearing the other House's bills. HB 1122 will be among the first to be heard, since Bernest Cain is the co-sponsor of it.
