On May 25, 2000 at 6:34 PM, Alabama Governor Don Siegalman signed into law passed HB690, which restores the unconditional right of the adult adoptees of that state to the original records of their births and adoption.

All adults 19 years or older in Alabama who have sealed original birth certificates will be able to request these in writing and begin receiving them on August 1, 2000. In addition to the sealed birth certificate, any evidence of the adoption contained within the same file will be released as well.

Alabama birthmoms can now file a CPF form with the Center for Health Statistics. More information can be obtained at: http://www.alabama-adoption.org/
