I found out I was adopted at 31, a rather nasty little story in which my adoptive mother decided she could finally get the upper hand on a child she never understood by trying to break my spirit. She STILL hasn't figured me out!
Professionally I have been a 4th grade teacher, a paralegal and work in a call center for a wireless company right now. I have a master's I never use and although am pretty busy always have time for things that matter to me.
I have three children, 20, 19, and 6, and am in the process of adopting my grandbaby, who is 2 this week.
I did not know when I was 18 that I was adopted or I could have gotten my original birth certificate in that short window of opportunity. My mother (despite the insanity of it all she is still my mother in my eyes) claims that she did not realize another birth certificate existed, the one the lawyer mailed her showed her and her husband as if they had given birth to me.
I am looking forward to helping others in getting the information I believe is wrongly withheld from us. Personally I have straddled the fence on this issue for my own information so much that I have to wear chaps :)
