Questions and Answers on Policy for Registry

bar

This page has been designed to answer any questions which you may have regarding this registry. If you have a question which has not been answered, please leave me a message and I will include it on my next update of the page. Thank you.

There is a lot of information on the registry but it doesn't say what it costs. What is the charge to use this registry?

There is no charge to use this registry and as long as I am running it there will never be a charge.

I was looking at the registry form. I don't have a lot of the information that you request. Does that mean I can't register?

Not at all. Please go ahead and register with whatever information that you have. The sooner you have your registration online, the better your chances. Of course if you get more information later, you can always update your information.

I notice that you don't have all the information you ask for in the database, so why do you need it?

The reason not all information is placed online is there is an element of society that may try to take advantage of you with some of this information. The reason I ask for the information is so that when someone questions me, thinking that they may have a match, I can compare the information which is given to make sure.

Well, what do you do with the information and how do I know that the wrong people won't get my information?

I have an offline database which holds all of the information which you give to me. No one but me has access to this database. If there is a possible match you will be contacted and asked for permission before I give anyone your email address.

How long will it take for my information to appear online?

It will take up to two weeks for me to get the information online unless there is an unusual circumstance going on. In that case a notice will appear on the front page explaining the reason and approximately how long it will take.

How would I go about updating my information?

What do you expect of me after I register my information?

After you recieve the letter with your registration number and other information, I would expect you to double check the database to make sure that I have not made any typing mistakes on your registration. As much as I would like to think I do not make mistakes, I am only human and there may come a time when a mistake is made. If such a mistake is noticed, PLEASE notify me immediately at darkstorm@uswest.net and let me know what is wrong with the entry and what needs to be fixed. I will fix it as soon as I get the message. As for other expectations, I expect you to keep your email address current with the registry and would hope that if you found out information through your non-identifying information that differs from what was given that you would edit your registration. The only other expectation is if you are one of the lucky ones to find your lost loved ones, please let me know so that I can keep let everyone know that you have succeded.

After you register, you will be sent a letter from the registry with your registration number. If you find more information which may help in getting a match or change your email address, just send me a message with your registration number, adoptee's date of birth, your name, information to change and the new information. You will recieve a message letting you know that the information in the database has been updated. Another way to edit your registration is to go to http://levgen.www.50megs.com/levgen/edit.html and fill out the form. This will autmatically send the information to me and you will get a letter after the information has been edited in the offline database.

What if I lose my registration number?

There are two ways that you can get your registration number is you lose the number which was given to you. First way is to look in the database which is set up according to adoptees date of birth and try to find it that way. The second way would be to send me a message with all the information you have, letting me know which is the new information and I will resend you the registration number as well as confirm any changes.

What if I have a question and lose the email address?

My email address is on almost every page on the site so you can either click on the feather to send me email or if you wish you can add my email address to your address book in your browser. The email address is bethleve@lycos.com.

What will happen to this registry if you decide that you don't want to do it again for whatever reason? Will my information still be safe or will I be left in a lurch? Would you ever consider selling the database?

If I decide that I can no longer take care of the registry as well as I feel that it should be taken care of, I will try to find someone who I trust to take care of it as well or better than I have done or I would hand it over to a CARE endorsed registry. I WILL NEVER SELL THIS DATABASE OR ANY OF THE INFORMATION WITHIN IT. If I ever decide that I cannot do it I will email each and every registrant in the registry to let them know the circumstances and what will be happening to the registry so that they can make plans on what to do next. However I do not plan on getting sick or ever getting too tired of taking care of this registry so please do not think that I am trying to back out on my committment to you and myself.

I hope this may answer some of the questions which you may have. If you have other questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them as fast and as accurately as I can.
