Questions and Answers on Policy for Registry

I have decided to place information on this page that will assist me in helping people who are thinking about registering or have already registered with this registry.

Email and regular addresses

I have been asked why I require both an email address plus the regular snail mail address of people who register with this registry. At the beginning of this registry, I did not require this information and it has lead to some problems. Without a current email address and without a regular address, I cannot contact my registrants if I have important information to give them. When people change their Internet Service providers, they need to edit their registration form to update their email address. Unfortunately, being human, sometime people forget where they registered and just do not update the information. Because of this both of the fields are now required input to be registered with this registry.

If you think you have registered here but you are not sure, you can leave me an Email message and I will gladly check the registry for you to make sure.

I do not give out or sell any email addresses or regular addresses that I recieve. To me this is a despicable practice and very unethical and is something that will never happen while I run this registry.

If we find that your email account is no longer active or that we cannot get messages to you through email, then we will take your registration out of the online database as we feel that it is unfair to everyone searching to have hopes raised and then not be able to reach you if information is found which may assist you or a match has been made and we cannot reach you. Your information will be saved in the offline database and we will continue to try and reach you as we feel that every member of the triad should be able to matched if that is their wish. If you have an account with AOL, please make sure that your parameters are set so that you can recieve messages from people other than just AOL people. Otherwise messages sent from here will be bounced back and your registration will also be taken offline. Thank you for understanding.

California births or adoptions only

The reason that I have insisted on making this registry for California births or adoptions only is because California is a very large state and since I do this registry with some help it is not enought to start including other states with it. I do have help in certain areas but the actual searching of the files is done by me and to be perfectly honest, I would be confused as all getout if I started including other states with it.

Matches

If you feel that you have a possible match, there are two different ways to notify me. The first way would be to register with the registry including the registration number and date of birth of registration in Addiional Information. The second way is to fill out our match form. Filling out the match for will not register you with the but does include the information I need to best make a match. Thank you.

If I find a match, I will contact you through email to make sure that you want me to exchange email addresses. If I am unable to reach you through email, I will then send you a letter through regular mail. I will not exchange any information without your permission.

Search Angels

I have certain people who are now assisting me in getting background information when they have some extra time. None of these people charge for any of their services and all of them are a great help in trying to make a match. There may be a time when I feel that a search angel may be able to assist you in finding your lost loved one. If this happens, I will send you an email message giving you the search angels email address. If I cannot reach you through your email address, I will send you a letter through the regular post office. Working together, we will hopefully be able to reunite more people.

Shutdown Prcedures

I want you to know right off that I do not plan to ever shutdown this registry but that having been said I also do not know a person who lived forever. So I have felt it necessarry to have a procedure in place in case that eventuality ever happened. In fact the way everything is arranged right now, the registry will not shutdown but one of my search angels will take over the registry. If it turns out that she changes her mind, I will take care of the shutting down of the registry according to the guidelines that I hope SOAR will initiate. I will send as letters to as many people on the registry who I have active email addresses for. I will also place a notice on the front of the registry that the registry will be shutting down and what will happen to the registry.
