Gallery I: Axes

Artwork by Frank Frazetta
You might be asking yourself "Why would I want a battle axe?". Well, here's two very good examples of situations where a battleaxe is a must-have item. I mean really, do you think these guys care about a little pepper spray in the face! Of course, there's always the excuse that all my axes will cut trees down as well. Hmmmm...you never know what may be living inside the tree trunk! I think the best reason for owning one is that axes are cool looking...therefore, you'd be cool looking carrying one!

The first three are your basic bearded axe, drop point axe, viking axe...whatever you want to call it! The center blade is of 1040 medium carbon steel, the leaves are 1018 (mild steel). Handles are 1x2 of oak with exotic wood trim. These range in size from 15-26 inches long and weigh about 3lbs? I never actually weighed one!
The fourth is a small camp axe which was given with a flanged mace (picture coming sometime!)as a gift set to Baron Tivar and Baroness Athelyan. .
The fifth was donated as a prize for our SCA group's tournament. It has a partially wire wrapped handle with a steel butt cap.
This one was donated as a prize for our neighboring barony's event this Spring. It has a partially wire wrapped handle with a steel butt cap.
