GC X-Treme has been hosted by NCHAMBER. So we will be switching servers in a few days. Since we will no longer be using a free server it will make it much easier to update, which will mean more updates.

July 11, 2001- Nascar Thunder
EA is making a Nascar game for both PS2 and Xbox. EA is responsible for the Madden franchise.

``We feel that we have made a strategic move with our Nascar franchise,'' said Chip Lange, vice president of marketing, Electronic Arts. ``We are committed to capturing the complete Nascar package with its larger than life action, superstars, strategy and excitement. With over 60 drivers to choose from, all 23 Cup Series tracks and one of the largest pack of cars available on console, we are confident that we have assembled a team that can deliver just that at EA's Tiburon studio.''

July 11, 2001- Microsoft Paying For Gamecube Games
NextGen: How do you deal with Microsoft and Sony wooing these same game companies?

Peter Main: Third-party publishers know our price list, and it's very similar to anything that's out there. We know that's consistent. What may be in question is marketing money. On the one hand, there was someone [Microsoft] who had no stake in the business and at any cost had to get in. They went to a variety of developers and agreed to pay, in essence, 100% of development costs with no strings attached, which had a lot of developers [coming] here and saying they have free goods that they can port to our system.

NextGen: Sounds like a good deal for you.

Peter Main: And [Microsoft] paid for the whole deal... We've been in the business for a few years, and we didn't do any deals like that. For better or worse, a $10 royalty plus the cost of their goods is about the same deal that all three companies are running on.

July 11, 2001- Does Marionette  =  Online Network?
Ever since Nintendo's E3 site released the game list which included a game called "Marionette", people have been wondering about this mysterious title. Is it more than just a game? Is it Nintendo's online network? The people at www.tendobox.com did a domain search and discovered Mario-Net.net is registered to Marionette Inc. While this is not confirmedto be the name of the online network, it is interesting none the less. Hopefully we'll here more at Space World.

June 30, 2001- Final Fantasy 11 multi-platform
Final Fantasty is Rumored to come to both XBOX and GAMECUBE. That would be great if Nintendo had Square and Enix.

Nintendo GAMECUBE Dev kits have been on high demand since E3. Nintendo does not have enough Dev kits, so they must give them out wisely.

June 30, 2001- No Perfect Dark Until Fall 2002
Ouch this news hurts. That could be a year after Launch. There better be a good FPS before PD2 or I'm going to be angry. Metroid better come out with in a few months after the system does. AND it better not disapp oint.

June 30, 2001- Sega at Spaceworld
How weird is this? Sega being at an all Nintendo show? They are said to be there to show off Phantasy Star Online's network and multiplayer capabilities. I'm really looking forward to being able to play PSO with split screens.

June 30, 2001- 1080 + Bomber Man

June 30, 2001- SSX Tricky Cube bound
A great addition to the Gamecube's Launch Library. This was the top selling PS2 launch game. This should help Gamecube's "kiddie" image.  I don't know if the graphics will be upgraded from its PS2 counterpart, but still expect a "sick" game.

June 30, 2001- Mario Kart is coming to the Cube
This was an obvious sequel. How could Nintendo not make another follow up to this great series. Expect great frame rates and tons of fun when this game hits the Cube.

June 30, 2001- Gamecube gets AM2
Probably my favorite Sega Developer. They have developed games such as Virtua Fighter and Shenmue. While Shenmue had its issues it was a huge game with great graphics, if they can fix the gameplay elements and make it move a little quicker they could have a real great game.

June 30, 2001- Could Sonic be the 15th Character?
EGM (Electronics Gaming Monthly) reported that Sonic will be the 15th character in SSBM. this would have sounded crazy a year ago, but Nintendo-Sega ties have said to be strong.
