Practice- Practice will be held Wednesday April 12th and on Wednesday April 19th at Volunteer Field at 5:15. Please bring your baseball glove with your name on it.

Team Shirts and Caps- Players will be receiving a new shirt and baseball cap. I hope to distribute them at one of our scheduled practices. We have new shirts this year so that all of our players will be uniformed in 1 color. Please wear the new shirts to our scheduled events.

Opening Day- Newington Little League’s Opening Day Ceremony is Saturday April 22nd at 11:00. The ceremony runs 20-30 minutes. Parking can be difficult so please allow plenty of time to park and locate the team. Although we will not have a game this day, your attendance is requested. We will be receiving the support from the major division teams for our home games again this year; therefore, we should show our support for the league through our attendance at this event. Please wear your NEW team shirt and cap. Please let me know if you are unable to attend.

Team Pictures- At this time, I still need to finalize a date with the photographer. Right now it looks like it will be either Wednesday May 10th or Sunday May 21st. The pictures will be taken 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. Again, please be sure to wear your new shirt. I will let you know as soon as I have the date confirmed.

Game Schedule- Please plan on arriving 20 minutes prior to each game for both home and away games. Please let me know if you will be unable to attend a game. This is especially important if you will not be attending due to a school function that will involve several of our players. Also, if this is the case, please let me know as soon as possible so we can consider rescheduling the game. At this time, there are no rain dates for games scheduled.

Buddies- Once again we will be having buddy teams from the Newington Little League at our home and away games.

Memorial Day Parade- The Newington Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday May 27th. Meeting point and time will be provided later. We are looking into making a float so all the players could participate. I will have updates on the float and parade later in the season.

Rock Cat Baseball Game- Friday June 16th is Newington Little League Night at the New Britain Rockcats. This is a eague wide fundraiser event (not just Challenger). A portion of the ticket sales for this event goes to Newington Little League. A flyer with information will be distributed at a later date.

Berlin Fun Day- Newington Little League has been invited to attend Berlin’s Fun Day for area Challenger teams on Saturday May 6th from 8:25 -1. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior so we can organize out team and determine if we must join another team for the baseball game portion. If you must arrive late or leave early you are still encouraged to come. It is an enjoyable day which usually consists of 1 or 2 baseball games, field games with prizes, food, and trophies at the end.

Bristol Fun Day- This year the event will be held Saturday June 17th (rain date Sunday June 18th). Details are still to come. In past years, registration began at 8:30 with activities planned between 9 and 3. The day’s events in the past consisted of a baseball game, field games, basketball activities, carnival games with prizes and lunch. I will provide you with details as soon as they are available.

Newington Challenger Baseball team website- At this time it still needs updating. Last years information is posted. I am working on having it updated. On our site you will be able to find our schedule, directions to the games, announcements, photos, guest book and more. Would you like to be our team reporter or photographer? If you would like to submit articles detailing the weeks’ events, game highlights, and player news please let me know. Also, if you are using a digital camera to take game photos please submit them to me so that I can have them added to the site.

E-mail- Whenever possible I try to send out information via e-mail. Please be sure to click the return receipt box when asked so that I know you have received it. Also, let me know if your e-mail address changes or if I do not have your current email on file. If you do not have email I am always happy to send information through the post office.
