Final whistle We've won. But it's not enough. Graeme's GameCeltic's foray into Europe's premier club tournament came to an end last night in what will be remembered for many years as one of the finest games to have graced the East end of Glasgow. Celtic defeated their more illustrious opponents by four goals to three in a game that pulsed and throbbed throughout the entire ninety minutes. Unfortunately Rosenberg were unable to dangle the Celts a lifeline with which to pull themselves into the next stage, going down to the only goal in Oporto. Martin O'Neill must be a Celtic Crazy visitor as he went along with my team selection, starting with Lubo and Petta in place of Thompson and Petrov. Juve made seven changes from the last game in Turin but you could still sense the swagger of a squad assembled at around £90 million. The villian of the first game, Amoruso, was greeted in pure pantomime baddie style with a chorus of boos and hisses every time he touched the ball. Almost unbelievably, inside the first five minutes, he threw himself down as Joos ran alongside him but the French whistler spotted the ruse and waved play on. He was to show inconsistency by later booking Lubo for allegedly diving when a free kick seemed the legal decision. Celtic, for their part, were playing as if the sense of injustice was paramount in their hearts and swept at the Italian defence at every opportunity. It was apparant that Lubo had decided that this may well be his last chance to shine on such a stage, and boy did he not take it. He made the young keeper turn a raking low shot round a post and rushed from corner flag to corner flag as Celtic pressed for the breakthrough. But, as has happened before in this campaign, after so much good work, it was the visitors who took the lead. An innocuous challenge by Valgaeren saw Del Piero go down in apparant mortal agony, only to recover miraculously to send a bending dipping shot into the roof of the Celtic net. Celtic showed commendable spirit and responded as if badly wronged again. Lubo found himself one on one with the goalie but, appearing surprised at being onside, dallied slightly allowing the youngster to block. The little magician continued to be involved in all the attacks and after twisting an Italian defender inside out, swung a left foot cross into the box for big Joos to score with a diving header. The home side surged forward and another sensational Moravcik cross was incredibly nodded past by Henrik from two yards out. They were not to be outdone, however, and just on half time Sutton rose majesticly to bullet home a Lubo corner. Trezeguet appeared for Juve at the start of the second half, replacing Del Piero and after only five minutes he had Juve level, ending a swift passing move with a stunning finish. Celtic refused to buckle and Sutton, who was really ruffling the smooth Italian feathers, won a penalty as he was wrestled to the ground at a corner. The deadly hush inside the stadium didn't put Larsson off and he calmly put Celtic back in front. Eight minutes later another corner caused havoc in the Juve defence and when they failed to clear Sutton lashed a left foot volley home from twenty yards. Trezeguet got his second after a fortunate ricochet off Petta and they had the ball in the net in the last minute but luckily the linesman had his flag up. As the Porto result was announced at full time their was a groan around the ground followed by a standing ovation in recognition of a truly wonderful performance from Celtic. So the adventure is indeed over. It's been a great six weeks with lots of ups and downs but overall I don't think they've let any of us down. Friday brings the UEFA cup draw so maybe there's a bit more magic to come. Man of the match : Could choose any number but it just has to be Lubo Moravcik.
