To Whom It May Concern
I am horrified to learn that the EPA is considering a further plan to retest
tens of thousands of chemicals to see how they might affect the body’s
hormones and that the EPA is considering testing as many as 87,000 chemicals
under the EDSP, which could spell suffering and death for tens of millions of
animals.
If the EPA insists on carrying out these tests, then I along with an army of
other people in the world would ask that these tests are not carried out on
animals of any form, shape or size.
With the many forms of alternative methods of testing now readily available
there is no excuse whatsoever to cause even further pain and suffering on the
animal kingdom. If it was stated that these tests would be tested on human
beings (which in the long run, it actually will be) - there would be a public
outcry! And yet, again science looks to the animal kingdom who because they
are a different species have to become the unwilling victims of research.
I certainly object to my taxes being used to fund projects such as this. I am
ashamed that people show no compassion whatsoever when projects find it
necessary to test chemicals, pesticides, etc. One has only to read of how
these animals are given increased daily doses of toxins and poisons, often
several times a day and then to slowly die agononising deaths alone, unloved
and uncared for. This is the true reality of the horrors of animal testing.
I sincerely plead that the EPA looks to using alternative methods and include
the words 'Compassion and Humane' in their search.
Sincerely,
