WORKS PERFORMANCE
PREMIER & CLASSIC WEEKEND
"The Farm", Chehalis, Washington
September 21-23, 2007
(With special guest 1959 & 1961 500cc world moto-cross champion Sten Lundin)

Ol Number 1 flies "Little Bro"
Terry Hyde, "OL # 1", out of the river bottom on his TriBSA "Little Bro"

Early Action & The Trials

The VME Advance Man.
His job, to reserve that special spot out in the middle of nowhere.
(Rumor has it the VME hold thier secret initiation rituals out there!)

Sten Lundin explains why Matchless never won a world moto-cross championship

Pierre Andrade's new TriBSA,

Delivered by Dick with help from Sten

Paul Rodden out from Oklohoma,
(but where was Roger Ganner?)

Vintage Unloading

Two of the 4 Litos in North America were at Chehalis. (But Sten's Championship Lito was not one of them)

Let us bow our heads in prayer,
Dear Almighty Pre-65 500cc 4-Stroke Single, we are........"

A 500cc 4-stroke Monark.
One of the 4 or 5 originals, maybe?

He laid out another excelent trial,
thanks Derek Belvoir

Goatboy in the house, Mark Skarpohl. (Much thanks Mark for your help in practice on Sunday after the incident!)

Welcome to AHRMA and trials competition Sophie Grimm

A military BSA,
Buck Murphy's I think

A nice peice, Bill Stuth's
1959 Maico 250 Blizzard

Kyle Moulton walked the section on the 1st loop, knew where to go, and did not get scolded by the checker

Trials Shot #2,
Steve "Soup" Clark

Goatboy a Plonking

Steen Hansen demonstrates the keen observational skills and concentration it takes to be an trials checker

Marty Paulson won the Rigid class and reestablished his territory with style!

Mel Paulson out from Montana for his first AHRMA trial

Bill McClinton

Terry Hyde, he's headed to K-Falls after the Premier/Classic, because it's only a week later. (See Terry's new web site, www.savethecub.com)

The Dinner

The Other Lineup

Window Dressings

Table Settings

If you sit near Pat Riley at dinner, proper timing of food and drink swallowing is essential! (For you and the person across from you)

It was another great dinner
in the barn at The Farm

Sten seemed to be enjoying his
dinner and the festivities

After dinner Jeff explained the differences between "pinching", "stealing", and "borrowing". Then he returned the item he "borrowed" from Sten Lundin at a race back in 1965

"I've been looking for this"
(Sten told us his early motorcycling & racing history. Then answered questions from Buck Murphy and some other people. Thanks Sten!)

Long after the dinner Sten was autographing the special place mates furnished by Dick & Kay Mann

Sunday's Moto-cross

Dan Vitaletti's Alpha DOT

Charlie Schank's 125 Maico, he's had the bike since he bought it new in the early 70's

At the riders meeting Marv Tryon was presented the OHRA "Open Door Expert" award for his excellence in event preparation

First moto action with John Caldwell and his Jim McCabe "influenced" Premier Light Maico
(Too trick for it's own good?)

Randy Skiver leading the first of many motos for the day on his Premier Light 160 Honda, (that looks like a BSA)

Mike Atkins on what I think is a fairly new Premier Light ride

Dan Vitaletti mistakenly brought his bowling gear bag to Chehalis, but that did not stop him from racing

Jim Cole on his Premier Light 160 Honda, (that looks like a Honda)

Martin Spriggs and NSU powering to a 2nd overall, (first non-Skiver), in Premier Light Expert

Just like Paul Friedrichs in 1965, Mike McGowan lead Jeff Smith for a little while on his 360 Twinpipe CZ

Jeff Smith worked his way past Dick Mann, but Dick got past to take the first Classic +60 Expert moto

Paul Rodden on the OSSA 175

Jim Row with the Don Mattews 250 Twinpipe at his disposal

Robert Doran leads Rob Poole

Pierre Andrade put his new TriBSA to good use with two moto wins in Premier 500 Novice

The first Premier 500 Expert moto on the line, 10 riders strong. In Ireland when there are 10 or more riders in a Pre-65 class, it's known as
"Having a McCaffer" of riders

Ron McNamee leads Scott Lathrup with Nyblod moving up after a get-off

This next section is entitled
"Get'n Air on a Meadow Cross Track"

John Ford in a state of pucker

Bill McClinton, a double threat
in trials and moto-cross

Tom Mcallister and Cotton out of the river bottom

John Sawazhki on the Monark

Dallas Nyblod, should have brought his bowling gear bag by mistake!

Ron McNamee is getting fast, quick

Robert "shift with the clutch" Doran, not getting so much air

The Master of Meadow himself

Speaking of air, rumor has it Pierre is going to charter a 747 and fly all of us and our bikes to Hawaii for an AHRMA event. All right Pierre!!!

John Vangolen. (Rumored to be the one that makes those coyote noises during the VME initiations)

Larry James getting the power back to the ground as soon as possible

Kelly Shane won the Premier 500 Expert class, the Premier Class of the Premier/Classic

Debbie Poole and Ron Warron could have gotten a lot of air, if they had wanted too

This concludes the "Get'n Air on a Meadow Cross Track" section

Sten Lundin took a parade lap on John Sawazhki's 500 Monark after the first set of motos

The Awards Ceremony

Sten and Jeff did the honors at the moto-cross awards ceremony

Swedish moto-cross history meets Canadian moto-cross history

Andrew McKeag got two gold medals on Sunday, and he's got the pictures to prove it!

chpc2007_69.jpg (110274 bytes)

Guest of Honor Sten Lundin out of the river bottom on John Sawazhki's 500 Monark

Thank you to all,
who make the Chehalis Premier/Classic Weekend one of the best vintage events in the world!
